1. What Are Cookies & Web Storage?
Cookies are small data files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember user sessions, and provide usage reporting to site operators.
In addition to traditional HTTP cookies, modern web applications utilize HTML5 Web Storage (localStorage). Unlike cookies, items stored in localStorage remain strictly on your local computer, are not transmitted over the network with every server request, and have larger capacity for caching diagnostic records.
2. Why Serplora Uses Them
We classify our browser storage usage into three clear categories:
- Strictly Necessary: Essential for platform security, user authentication, and page navigation. Without these, you cannot log in to your account or access paid software subscriptions.
- Functionality & Preferences: Remembers your preferred interface settings (such as whether the tools navigation sidebar is expanded or collapsed) and caches recent audit runs locally so you don't lose queue progress if you accidentally refresh the page.
- Analytics & Performance: Helps us understand how our tools and articles are accessed so we can optimize performance and resolve page errors.
3. Inventory of Cookies & Local Storage
The following table lists the primary cookies and local storage keys used across Serplora:
| Identifier | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session Cookie | HTTP Cookie (Secure) | Maintains cryptographic authentication token when logged in via email OTP. | Session / 30 days |
cc_logged_in | Local Storage | Client-side flag to immediately display "My Account" instead of "Login" without page flicker. | Persistent |
serplora_tools_sidebar_collapsed | Local Storage | Remembers whether you collapsed or expanded the left sidebar in /online-tools/. | Persistent |
serplora_status_history | Local Storage | Caches your recent status code audit runs so you can review them in the "Recent Audits" modal. | Persistent (Erasable via "Clear History") |
Google Tag Manager (_ga, _gid) | HTTP Cookie | Anonymous site telemetry to monitor page load performance, errors, and aggregate traffic. | Up to 2 years |
4. Third-Party Integrations
A. Google Tag Manager
We implement Google Tag Manager (container ID GTM-P429VL4K) to measure general platform health and user journeys. This service collects aggregated, anonymized metrics and does not associate browsing activity with your personal email account.
B. Google Sheets OAuth Client
When you choose to export audit reports to Google Sheets, your browser loads Google's official identity script (https://accounts.google.com/gsi/client). Google sets temporary authorization tokens necessary to connect with your Google Drive. Serplora does not retain or log these third-party Google cookies.
5. How to Control & Clear Storage
You have complete control over cookies and browser storage on your device:
- Browser Settings: You can configure your browser (Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge) to reject cookies, alert you before receiving a cookie, or delete existing cookies upon browser close.
- Purging Audit History: Inside our online tools, opening the "History" modal and clicking the Clear History button immediately purges all locally saved audit runs from your computer.
- Clearing Web Storage: You can wipe all Serplora preferences anytime by clearing your browser's site data or cache under Developer Tools > Application > Local Storage.
Note: Disabling essential cookies may prevent you from logging in, accessing your account billing portal, or using authenticated tool features.
6. Policy Updates & Inquiries
We may periodically update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our technology or legal requirements. When updates occur, the "Effective" date at the top of this page will be revised.
